The Chicago Fire FC and Saturdays Football recently hosted an event to celebrate the release of the 2025 Municipal Kit. The venue was packed elbow to elbow for most of the afternoon, making for an incredibly successful showing of support.

Lines formed well down the block even before the doors opened at noon. The steady influx of the crowd over the next four hours was truly impressive, marking the first large-scale event hosted at the Chicago location of Saturday's Football.

Aside from the cleverly designed new kit, one of the highlights for me was the live kit-pressing. The Fire have done an excellent job this year of channeling the aesthetics of the city, and providing a engaging personalized experience.

The “Municipal Kit” pays homage to the city of Chicago, featuring a subtle interlocking pattern reminiscent of the city’s Municipal Device symbol. The Municipal Device – a Y-shaped symbol – is ubiquitous within Chicago, and represents the north, south, and main branches of the Chicago River, and their confluence at Wolf Point.

I’m also a big fan of the new designs from Saturday's Football. In particular, the addition of Fire FC to their line of caps stands out as a great nod to both Chicago and the club’s culture. The design reflects the club’s inaugural season and pays homage to its golden years.

In particular the new addition of the Fire FC to there line of Caps stands out to me as a great nod to Chicago, and the culture of the Fire FC

The support from Monday Coffee Co, Revolution Brewing, Lou Malnati's, along with music from House Calls featuring live sets from KOZ, Tres Mortimer, Ivano, and the LA Murga official supporters musical band, brought incredible energy to the event.

Everything blended perfectly. Despite the winter chill and an impending cold snap, we all stood eagerly anticipating March and the upcoming season. I met people from across the soccer landscape, did some networking, and spread the word about The Almost Informative Guide to Soccer in Chicago. I really need to thank my guys, Jasper and Isaac, the Chicago store managers at Saturday's Football. They've both had the patience to put up with me over the past few months as I kept prodding them for content for this website. I’m just as proud of the light this casts on soccer in Chicago as I am of them in particular—it's great to see all their hard work paying off!

Enthusiasm is bubbling, and with the new additions to Chicago Fire FC, exciting new establishments like Saturday's Football, and events like this, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the momentum. The first game is March 1, and I feel like this might be a good place to leave a link to the various supporter groups listed on the official site.
